Welcome

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

I am currently volunteering in Honduras for a year. Honduras is the second largest and second poorest country in Central America. I am living in Siguatepeque, a small city in Honduras. I am teaching English to pre-school children in Del Sol Montessori bilingual school and organising after school activities.

Project Trust is an educational charity that offers 17 and 18 year olds volunteering placements overseas.

Spring Fundraising

Hi, hope everyone had a great Easter,

I have to say a big, big thank you to my mum’s friends Helen and Jacqui who between them have raised nearly £400 for my trip over the last month. Helen held a coffee morning in her house, with beautiful little cakes, plus fudge, lemoncello and chutney for sale. This raised over £180. Jacqui held two craft sessions, one for kids, and one for adults. She is also a talented botanical artist and she did a series of beautiful watercolours of fruit and flowers which she has been selling. My Grandma got one for her birthday last week which she loved. In total Jacqui raised £190.

So along with a few more replies from trusts (including £500 from the Lynn Foundation yesterday) I have raised almost £4000, well on the way to my £5400 total. We are planning a Honduran evening in the local wine bar Skylark soon.

I am also holding a Zumba event with my friend Kirsty (who is going to Chile with project trust) this Tuesday at 4pm in the assembly hall. Its only £2 for students so if you go to Portobello, come along. Tickets can be bought from the office, Ms Smith in Modern Studies or me and Kirsty who will be outside the hall at break tomorrow and Tuesday. You can also buy them on the door. I think it will be very good fun, and we will have qualified Zumba instructor Ms Smith to lead it.

I've included some pictures of the cakes Helen made :)
